Wishard is different from other hospitals. As a public hospital, we support the underserved by providing the full array of high-quality acute Level I trauma and burn care as well as primary preventive care in low-cost neighborhood clinics.

Wishard provided roughly $150 million in free care in 2008 and receives a mere 5.4% of its $486.4 million budget from property taxes.

Wishard provides necessary care to everyone in the county – regardless of their ability to pay. Beyond this responsibility, however, Wishard provides no - and low-cost educational and preventive health services to disadvantaged central Indiana Hoosiers in an effort to lower costs associated with this population's care.

To put it simply, Wishard provides more care to the uninsured than all other health systems in central Indiana combined. We need your help to continue this life sustaining safety net for our community.
